K119 - Void #1
The first official Void! I was very happy with k114 after some testing and tweaking to feel happy with calling the Void complete. This is the first non-prototype Void. The color selection is in-line with my personal Shiznits. I've been liking the idea of having a base panel layout scheme, but making slight alterations from there for different kite models that I design, that way I can have a consistent look for myself and my designs, but still provide some variety and distinctiveness to each design.
Reinforcement
Most of the reinforcements are the same as k114, but I did add some mylar to the standoff sail-stays to help keep that high-stress area from stretching.
Leading edge openings
I changed the way I was doing the openings in the leading edge to be less like the Shiznit and more like my outdoor dual line builds. I think this approach helps keep the leading edge smooth behind the spreader fittings, particularly on the upper spreader where the line could get caught when attempting a yo-yo instead of on the yo-yo stoppers.
Yoyo stoppers
The yo-yo stoppers are also different, using the same technique I've used for the last 2 kites. With the small size of this kite, the yo-yo stoppers scaled accordingly, and are rather adorable.
Tail
The tail reinforcement on k114 felt a little fat to me. I kept he same overall approach, but cleaned it up a bit.
Weight
When testing k114, one of the things I spent a lot of time playing with was weight distribution. I landed on ~5g on the tail and ~2.5g on the nose. This weight helped with vertical rotations like in a jacob's ladder, and ultimately made a jacob's ladder possible on this kite.
Dye-sublimation labeling
I did mess up a bit with the dye sublimated text, and got it a little too close to the trailing edge. I didn't feel it was worth starting over for that, but it's something I'll need to be more careful of in the future.
