K114 - Void Prototype #2
Changes since the last prototype
When flying the previous prototype, I struggled a lot getting the kite to transition from a fade to a turtle as you would during a jacobs ladder. To help with that transition, I've adjusted the sail shape slightly. I moved the lower spreader a bit higher, shortened the spine, cut the trailing edge in a bit, and moved the standoffs slightly inward. The goal is to achieve a bit of a higher aspect ratio (a wider/shorter kite) and to reduce the resistence to rotation at the keel.
I've also started playing with the actual panel layout. I'm deriving the panel layout from that of the Shiznit, but segmenting it a bit more.
Build notes
Spine
I ended up doing a string tensioning on the spine which I think is working pretty well at keeping the spine tensioned without the bulk of velcro
Nose
I was able to get a cleaner nose than last time by making the edge covering a bit thinner, so I'm pleased with how that turned out.
Sail
As with most of my prototypes, I largely relied on scrop fabric for this build.
