Build Log

K125 - Void #4

A custom Void, made to order.

This build went pretty smoothly. Some notes:

Bridle

I don't remember what I've been using for the Void bridle, but my documetation says 50#, but that seems light. So this is running a 100# bridle with 50# keeper lines.

Lower spreaders

The lower spreaders are SkyShark 2pt, as usual. I have been finding that tapered spars are a bit less consistent in diameter, and one of these spars has a sligthly wider narrow end than the other. I don't think this will have a detecetable impact on the kites flight, but it's interesting to note.

Yoyo stoppers

I used a multi-step zig-zag stitch on the front end of the yo-yo stoppers instead of a single-step zig-zag. I think, for the Void, I usually use a single-step. I don't think this will really make any practical difference, but I think the single-step would look cleaner.

Bobbins

I've been struggling a bit with winding bobbins on my Bernette B77. When I try to wind a bobbin, it doesn't want to wind evenly across the bobbin, and it ends up getting loose portions or tight portions which can lead to tensioning issues. I've ordered a standalone bobbin winder, and maybe that will help moving forward.
