Build Log

K121 - Void #2

The first customer Void order.

Rebuild

I basically built this kite twice. The first time, the build was going reasonably well. There were a few small issues here and there, but nothing significant. When I was glueing the fittings in place, a drop of glue made it to the floor without me noticing. Then, while continuing to glue other fittings, I set the kite down on the floor, and ended up glueing the sail to my shop floor. I was able to pry it up, but there was glue and floor residue left on the sail. I was able to clean that off with some acetone, but that left the white fabric a bit yellow, and probably damaged the coating, so I started over on the sail, but was able to reuse the frame and most of the fittings.

The second build went much more smoothly and turned out much better. The original will be cut up for scraps.

Yoyo stoppers

I put a bit more thought into the sewing around the yoyo stoppers. I made sure that the opening for the stoppers was on the front side of the sail where it can't interfere, and even sewed the closed side down, rather than just letting it sit on glue. I think this turned out pretty well.
