K95 - Shiznit #8
A new Shiznit, built to order.
Some build notes:
Nose
I adjusted the way I was doing the extra bit of nylon around the nose, by using a strip just over 1/4”. I think it worked out okay, but I did have to sew through it twice to make sure I got both sides locked down. I may try making the nylon just a tad bigger and folding it carefully before taping it on.
Fittings
I decided to make a new model to replace C clips for kites whose design/build is stable. C clips work okay, but the glue tends to fail on them occasionally. However, C clips are easy to take off in the case of a repair or design tweak. What I’m using now is a full tube with a hole to inject glue into. That seems to be working well.
I also inject glue into some of the other fittings, and this proved to be a slight problem with the spreader/standoff connectors. The glue managed to seep through the fitting and to the standoff, so I had to work really hard to pull them back apart. A note for the future, is to disconnect the spars when glueing.
Sleeve
I think this sleeve turned out pretty clean. I want to think about how to add a pocket to the sleeve, but I’m not quite ready to experiment with that yet.
