Build Log

K43 - Breeze #15

First from a batch of 3 matching Breezes.

I was recently in China, and while I was there I sold my personal Breeze that I was performing with. So, I decided to make 3 more: 1 for me, another backup one for me, and 1 for Steve DeRooy so we can match when flying pairs indoor.

This build went fairly smooth. The raw length of dacron I used for the LE was only barely long enough, so I updated my template to add some more wiggle room. Turned out fine here, but it was cut super close.

I sewed in the reinforcements on the leading edge, I think this ends up looking a bit nicer and more finished.

Used my updated method of folding the corners of the leading edge and that's working much better.

Skyshark gave me some extra rods to try out. I normally use a Skyshark 2P frame, but they gave me some tapered rods to try on the ends of the leading edge. I'll try it out, but I don't think it will be something I connect with. There's a reason we don't use tapered rods on quad kites, it just distorts the leading edge in a way that inhibits the kite's ability to load because all the pressure spills off on the side.
