K42 - Essentials XXV #4

A new Essentials XXV with a different venting layout.

The previous version was too much. It could only fly ~60% up the window window. So, I thought more about the layout and came up with this. It stays more consistent with the V and Xv and keeps more fabric on the edge of the sail so it doesn't lose the wind window.

I started using some new mesh fabric. It's a woven polyester mesh. This will be a bit of a trial run for the fabric.

I started sewing in the edges of the leading edge and mesh reiforcements, I think that looks a bit nicer and more solid.

I changed the way I'm folding the end of the leading edge a bit. Before, I was folding it into the pocket, but rods would frequently get snagged on it. So, I started folding it outside the pocket, and I cover it with an extra layer of dacron anyway, so it looks the same from the outside.

The mesh is all applique'd on, which I'm thinking is a good way to go with mesh. I also kept a layer of fabric on top of the mesh on the back side so there's no exposed glue. It's a bit more work, but it makes it easier to sew and I think it looks a bit cleaner.
