K143 - Void Prototype #1
This is an unusual situation where I am logging a kite before I have it fully assembled. This is a prototype Hybrid, a design by Paul DeBakker. Paul has been working on this design for us to fly together for pairs. I've done some work to help digitize his plans so they are reproduceable and shareable. This is the first build using those digitized plans. So I'll send the sail up to Paul so he can compare against his existing prototypes and see if the digitized plans behave the way he wants, or if more adjustments are needed.
Some build notes:
Spine and tail
Unlike other dual line kites I've built this has a solid dacron spine instead of a spine seam. This eliminates the extra reinforcement around the center T, since that's already dacron. It also extends down to become the tail tensioning. This is done with 1.5"-wide dacron, which does feel like a good size for this, but I don't typically stock 1.5" dacron tape.
Fabric
The white fabric is Ventex insead of Icarex. It's very similar, but it's what Paul is intending to use on his, so he gave me some to match.
