K73 - 90Nothing #1
The 90Nothing is an Open Source indoor dual line from kareloh.com. I thought this seemed like an interesting plan, partially because of my ongoing work on the shiznit. I didn’t expect this to be a great indoor kite, but I am guessing that it might be very nice outdoors in very little wind to be something that flies very light but is trickable.
Overall design
The kite is a bit smaller than I expected. I think it would be nice if it were a bit bigger. I also think the belly is quite loose, and some effort could be put in to tighten that up some. One part that I really don’t like is the wing tip. Maybe I did something wrong, but it seems like the measurements for the seem allowance on the leading edge don’t match up with the measurement for the leading edge because I ended up with this loose fabric on the tips instead of having the trailing edge and leading edge meet. If I were to build this again, I’d definitely tweak the design to fix that.
Changes from the plan
I did make a couple minor changes.
I rounded all the reinforcements because I prefer rounded corners, I think it’s a bit cleaner since there aren’t corners sticking up at all.
I added covers to the standoff connectors on the sail, like I did on my last build.
I used my 3d printed fittings instead of vinyl end caps and such like was suggested in the plan.
