K81 - Essentials V #4
Since I replaced a sold Essentials V with my last build, it became apparent that my second Essentials V is very dated by comparison, so I wanted to replace that one. Overall, this build went quite smoothly.
Venting structure
I changed the way that I reinforced the venting along the vertical spar based on idea I had when building the last Essentials V. Instead of adding bit of nylon to the front, I just left that section of Icarex from the main sail. I think this turned out really clean.
T Fitting opening
Last time, I forgot to sew around the opening for the T fittings. Got that right this time.
Fitting tolerances
I had a bit of trouble with the washers and the T fittings. The washers are a bit tight and hard to put on to the bungee, so I just need to adjust that slightly.
I framed this with an old Revolution 3 Wrap frame. Some of the spars were really tight going through the T fitting, especially where the brand sticker is wrapped around the spar. I think I’ll make the T fitting just a smidge looser. I’m also in the process to trying different spars so I can move away from Revolution spars in general. Hoping Skyshark P300 can be an appropriate replacement.
