K38 - Hex #6
Kite #5 of an 8 kite stack
Notes:
- Experimented with sewing the leading edge mesh aloung the edge of the fabric before rolling instead of sewing along the fold line. This was ok, but it caused me to struggle a bit more with folding the hem, which resulted in a few wobbly seems. I think I'll go back to sewing at/near the fold line instead.
- The belly looks good. I have been cutting off the curve near the center of the LE, I think I'll make that adjustment in my template.
- Ran out of thread while working on this. I was experimenting with some bonded polyester thread from Thread Exchange. The thread was great, so I orded a 16oz roll instead of the 1oz I had before.
This stack won 1st place in experienced sport kite hand crafted at the Washington State International Kite Festival in 2019.
